Watercolor;

I feel this was better as a pen drawing before I started doing watercolours on it. But here we are. I have also posted a similar on my other blog Adult colouring book blog
It is illustration from my own imaginary book.
I like the B&W version.

Thank you.

Watercolor and permanent marker

I found this print by Leonard Baskin in this book on Cezanne. This pen and watercolour is a tribute to him.
Thank you.

Ink Drawing 1

I realised that there was ink drawing 2, 3 and 4 on the blog but no "Ink Drawing 1". (Oops!) So here is Ink Drawing 1. 😑
Thank you all.

Ink Drawing 4

This is random, "for my happiness only" kind of ink drawing from the past. But hope you enjoy it too as much as I did. I always thought that the art MUST have a social sense. But this is not socially aware art. This is the joy of putting some beautiful color physically on paper, watch it mix with other color, see imaginary shapes, outline them as much as you want, or don't, create textures and feast your eyes. That is what it is.
Thank you.

Ink Drawing 3

I don't know about others but when I sit for meditation which I have been trying to do for a very long time, my mind keeps drifting. It goes to several places in the world in this 10 mins. 😒😈😕 I find making these ink drawing very meditative then, making those several small marks on paper repeatedly and not thinking anything else. 😊
Thank you.

Inks I use...

I am posting one old ink drawing here. It is 11"x15". It has been spontaneous. Hence fun.

Ink Drawing 2

These are the inks I use, no particular brand. I like them all and to explore how they work together. Got to love them.

Thank you very much.

Colors I use...

This is todays pic, called Riot on Paper. 11"x15" on handmade paper.
I am happy about it. Well, I was when it was done.

These are the watercolours I use. They were suggested by a friend who is a professional artist and exclusively works in watercolours.

I also have these locally available watercolours and I started with them. I think that it is a good idea to start with whatever materials you have and and find out their use and limitations and then experiment with others. Like I said art can be made from mundane or everyday materials like crayons and black ink. ( Black India ink must be the most available material in stationary shop once upon a time before invasion of ball pens and gel pens.) The idea is to get started.

Thank you.

Small works

These two are really small. They are 6"x 8.5". They are crayons, black India ink and little watercolours. I love doing it the fast and furious way. I want to post more from the work I did before. All my rooster fight series is using these minimalistic tools. Crayons belonged to my daughter. Soon to be a teenager, even she has out grown them. ( I don't think one should outgrow them. But this is what happens.) I use black India ink in different dilutions. The paper I used was local 100% rags handmade paper. Sometimes the paper had its own mind and did not behave. But that gave me different effects than intended and I liked that too because I was not too fanatic about the overall outcome. The rooster series was an experimentation. Hence it was fun.

Thank you all.

Rooster Fights Once Again

"A man sees two beautiful roosters fighting each other in the jungle. They are probably fighting for a female or it is just a friendly fight. He is fascinated and catches them, gets them home. He starts teaching them more fierce fighting. He charges money from people to watch these cock-fights. Now the roosters are fighting more fiercely, almost unto the death but it is not for fun anymore and it is not for a female. They don't know what it is for anymore. But the fight must go on."

Teaching myself watercolour techniques 2

This is what I did last night. Learning?
1. Intensity of watercolours when dry is different than what you had seen when they are wet.
2. I like this but still tempted to use black India ink with watercolours to give it more tonal values/ (depth?)
Tell me your thoughts.

This is how I arrange colors on my palette.

Thanks for looking.
